Making healthy choices the most fun game in town
Opportunity
Since the invention of children, parents have been trying to figure out how to get them to eat, sleep and move better. With 1 in 4 Queensland kids overweight or obese, it looks like they need some help.
Solution
Health and Wellbeing Queensland partnered with Khemistry to create Podsquad – a free play-based health and wellbeing program for 5 – 9 year olds, built on the understanding that if you want kids to do anything, it has to be a game.
Created in collaboration with top psychologists, paediatricians, dieticians, childhood movement experts and rooms full of kids, Podsquad wraps a lot of hard behaviour-change science in a squishy bubble of real-world fun. To kids, itʼs play, to parents, a tool, and to Australia, a practical way to help with an epidemic that often turns into a lifetime of poor health.
Results
#1 App Store download in the kids health and wellbeing space
Launched in June 2023, Podsquad was immediately picked up nationally, reaching over 9.6m Australians, and rising into the top 20 of Family apps. Itʼs currently being written into a kids play by QPAC, with plans to launch app internationally in the near future.
